BASF will launch two expansion projects in Jinshan, Shanghai, China and the Cincinnati, Ohio, USA facility to increase global Alkyl Polyglucosides (APG)
capacity. The expansion projects in Cincinnati and Shanghai Jinshan are expected to be completed and put into production in 2018 and 2019 respectively. This will better meet the needs of customers in North America and Asia Pacific through local production, while reducing cross-regional traffic and shortening lead times.

In addition, investment in China and the United States will also alleviate the problem of insufficient capacity of the APG plant in Düsseldorf, Germany, enabling BASF to continue to meet the strong demand in the European market.
As a surfactant, APG is widely used in personal care products such as cleaning, bathing, and shampooing for its mild properties and improved foam properties. In addition, they are also used in the field of home care, including dishwashing detergents, laundry detergents, and surface cleaning products, as well as microemulsion formulations in agrochemical applications. As the home and personal care markets become more focused on ultra-mild ingredients, APG will play an important role in the formulation of these products. In addition, APG's advantages include compatibility with various surfactants and other ingredients due to its nonionic properties, as well as 100% natural, renewable raw materials.
