Learn About the Application and Storage of Allyl Alcohol Learn About the Application and Storage of Allyl Alcohol

1. Understand allyl alcohol

Allyl alcohol, also known as garlic alcohol, 2-propen-1-ol, is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C3H6O, which is highly toxic. Raw materials of diallyl dicarboxylate and bis(2,3-dibromopropyl) fumarate.

2. The application of allyl alcohol

Allyl alcohol is an intermediate in the production of glycerol, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fragrances and cosmetics. It is also the raw material for the production of diallyl phthalate resin and bis(2,3-dibromopropyl) fumarate. Silane derivatives of allyl alcohol and copolymers with styrene are widely used in coatings and glass fiber industries. Allyl urethane can be used in the photosensitive polyurethane coating and casting industries. Allyl alcohol has alcoholic hydroxyl groups and olefinic double bonds in its molecule, and can react with compounds such as ethers, esters, and acetals to prepare various products. It is used as a reagent for the determination of mercury, as a fixative in microscope analysis, and also for resin and plastic synthesis.

3. Storage and precautions of allyl alcohol

Allyl alcohol is stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. In hot season, the temperature should not exceed 25℃. The packaging is required to be sealed and not in contact with the air. Allyl alcohol should be stored separately from oxidants, acids, alkali metals, and edible chemicals, and should not be mixed. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. Storage areas should be equipped with emergency release equipment and suitable containment materials. Allyl alcohol avoids contact with oxidants, acids, alkali metals. Allyl alcohol is equipped with corresponding varieties and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment.

Allyl alcohol skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of running water for 20 to 30 minutes. If you feel unwell, seek medical attention. Allyl alcohol eye contact: Immediately lift the eyelids and rinse thoroughly with plenty of running water or normal saline for 10 to 15 minutes. If you feel unwell, seek medical attention. Allyl alcohol inhalation: quickly leave the scene to fresh air to keep the airway open. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Breathing, heartbeat stopped, immediately perform CPR. Allyl alcohol ingestion: drink enough warm water, induce vomiting, gastric lavage, and catharsis. seek medical attention. Hazardous combustion products: carbon monoxide. Extinguishing method: extinguish with water mist, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide and sand.
