Application of α-olefin Sulfonate Application of α-olefin Sulfonate

AOS (α-olefin sulfonate sodium salt) has very good comprehensive properties. It has mature technology, reliable quality and good detergency. Especially in hard water, it also shows the characteristic that the pollution power is basically not reduced. AOS has good biodegradability, and has been mass-produced and used in Japan, South Korea, India, and the United States. In China, it is being developed in fields such as oil field additives, starch processing aids, acrylate emulsion polymerization, mercerizing of cotton, wool washing, textile and paper wetting agents. It is expected that in the near future, α-olefin sulfonate will become a new generation of main synthetic detergent raw materials, and is widely used in household and industrial detergents.

AOS is as gentle as AES, while LAS and AS are much more irritating than AOS. Therefore, AOS has a wide range of uses in personal care products. AOS is extremely stable under acidic conditions, and the skin of normal people is weakly acidic (pH value is about 5.5), which is suitable for using AOS as a component of personal washing products. Shampoo with AOS as the main active component has better foaming properties than K12. The foam released by AOS is plump and creamy, and it has a soapy feel during washing. Therefore, AOS can be used in personal care products such as bath lotion, hand sanitizer and facial cleanser.
