Hexyl bromide is a transparent or light-yellow liquid with a pungent odor. It is insoluble in water but soluble in alcohols, ethers and esters.


Hexyl bromide should be stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse. The storage temperature should not exceed 37℃. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Keep the container tightly closed. It should be stored separately from oxidant and should not be mixed. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities should be adopted. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are easy to produce sparks. The storage area shall be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate materials. Its uses are as follows:

First aid measures:

1. When accidentally stained with hexyl bromide, take off the contaminated clothes and wash the skin thoroughly with soapy water as well as water.

2. Lift the eyelid after accidental contact with the eyes and rinse with running water or saline. In serious cases, seek medical attention.

3. If you accidentally inhale ethyl bromide, you should leave the scene quickly to a place with fresh air. Keep the respiratory tract unobstructed. If breathing is difficult, you need to give it oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately and seek medical attention.

4. After accidentally swallowing, you can drink enough warm water to induce vomiting. If it is serious, you should seek medical treatment in time.
