Application of Surfactants in the Petroleum Industry Application of Surfactants in the Petroleum Industry

Table of Content [Hide]

In the petroleum industry, surfactants are widely used as oilfield chemicals in drilling, cementing, oil production, oil and gas gathering and transmission, tertiary oil recovery and oilfield water treatment, etc. They play an important role in ensuring drilling safety, improving crude oil recovery, oil quality, production efficiency and economic benefits, as well as equipment protection, reducing gathering and transmission costs and preventing environmental pollution. Today, surfactants have become essential oilfield chemicals in oilfield development.

What are the specific products of industrial surfactants in the petroleum industry?

They are used to formulate drilling fluids, uncracking fluids, cementing fluids, foam drainage fluids, oil repellents, anti-wax and wax cleaning agents, wetting and dragging agents, emulsifying and viscosity-reducing agents, fracturing fluids, acidifying fluids, biocides, crude oil demulsifiers, anti-condensation and viscosity-reducing agents, dragging agents, antioxidants, anti-friction agents, detergents, anti-rust agents, anti-static agents, fuel energy-saving additives and so on.

Commonly used anionic surfactants include advanced fatty acid salts, naphthenic acid salts, alkyl benzene sulfonates, alkyl sulfonates, a-olefin sulfonates, petroleum sulfonates, alkyl sulphates, fatty alcohol ethoxylate sulphates, alkyl succinate salts, and alkyl phosphate salts.

Commonly used cationic surfactants include fatty amine hydrochloride, aliphatic imidazoline acetate, alkyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, polyquaternium, dialkyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, alkyl pyridinium chloride, alkyl ammonia acetate, alkyl dimethyl ammonia acetate etc.

Commonly used amphoteric surfactants include alkyl betaine, sulfobetaine, imidazoline type amphoteric surfactants.

Commonly used nonionic surfactant products include fatty alcohol ethoxylates, alkylphenol ethoxylates, fatty amine ethoxylates, fatty alkanolamines, fatty alkanolamine ethoxylates, polyoxyethylene ethoxylates, polyoxyethylene ethoxypropylene block polyethers and so on.

Nanjing Chemical Material Corp. can provide customers with a variety of surfactants, which can be widely used in the petroleum industry to reduce the oil/water interface tension and increase the number of capillaries, thus greatly improving oil recovery. You are welcome to purchase.
