Preparation Methods and Application Areas of AOS Powder Preparation Methods and Application Areas of AOS Powder

Table of Content [Hide]

AOS powder, or sodium alpha-olefin sulfonate powder, is an anionic surfactant with superior performance. It is widely used in various fields such as daily chemicals, household cleaning, and industrial cleaning. Due to its mildness, excellent foaming ability, and good biodegradability, it is highly favored in the industry. This article will systematically introduce the principles of preparation and practical applications of AOS powder, focusing on two keywords: how to prepare AOS powder and the uses of AOS powder.

    How to Make AOS Powder

The preparation of AOS powder is mainly based on the sulfonation reaction between alpha-olefin and sodium bisulfite, producing a stable powder product through processes such as neutralization and drying. The specific process is as follows:

    Raw Material Preparation

The main raw materials are alpha-olefin in the C14-C16 range, derived from petroleum cracking or natural fats. High-purity sodium bisulfite is also required as a sulfonating agent.

    Sulfonation Reaction

Under specific temperature and catalytic conditions, alpha-olefin reacts with sodium bisulfite to generate sodium alpha-olefin sulfonate solution. This step requires strict control of the reaction temperature, time, and pH value to ensure product quality.

    Neutralization Treatment

If the sulfonation product contains free acid, it needs to be neutralized by adding alkaline substances such as sodium hydroxide to make the product more stable.

    Spray Drying

The neutralized solution is processed through a spray drying tower, where the moisture evaporates quickly, ultimately forming fine AOS powder that is easily soluble in water.

The entire preparation process requires a clean production environment and strict quality control to ensure the purity of the AOS powder, the content of active ingredients, and the uniformity of product particle size.

    AOS Powder Uses

Due to its excellent surfactant properties, AOS powder plays an important role in various application scenarios:

    Daily Chemical Products

AOS powder is commonly used in shampoos, body washes, and facial cleansers. It produces rich and stable foam, has strong cleaning power, but low irritation, making it suitable for sensitive skin or children's products.

    Detergent Field

In laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, and kitchen cleaners, AOS powder has excellent grease removal capability and maintains good cleaning and foaming performance even in hard water conditions.

    Industrial Cleaning

AOS powder is widely used in industrial products such as metal surface cleaners, car wash liquids, and floor oil stain cleaners. It is highly resistant to high temperatures and alkalinity, making it suitable for cleaning needs in complex environments.

    Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, AOS powder, as a biodegradable green surfactant, is increasingly used in natural and organic label products, becoming an important ingredient in green cleaning solutions.

    Conclusion

From how to prepare AOS powder to its uses, we can see that AOS powder not only demonstrates high technical content in its preparation process but also shows strong adaptability and environmental advantages in its applications. As the demand for green chemicals and high-performance cleaning continues to grow, AOS powder will play an increasingly important role in the development of future cleaning and care products.
